SECRETARY GENERAL'S MESSAGE
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 10th edition of Sophia Model United Nations (SMUN) 2019! I, Trishima Reddy, will serve as the Secretary General for this edition of SMUN. I am delighted that we have embarked on this journey together.
Our team is working relentlessly to create an experience that is both delightful as well as educational for you. This year we bring to you seven exciting committees: The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), The London Fascist Summit of 1935, The International Press Corps (IPC), The Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs Committee (SOCHUM), The Security Council (SC), The All India Political Party Meet (AIPPM), and The Continuous Crisis Committee (CCC).
All the committees aim to discuss relevant issues; the burning questions and problems that plague our world in the 21stcentury. They try to explore how we, as citizens of a global world, can play a crucial role in solving these issues. We have a responsibility to be better than the previous generation. How we are going to achieve this feat is the central theme of this year’s conference. For, you see delegates, we all have the potential within us to bring about the change we want to see. Whether we act upon it or not is the decision we have to make. I urge each one of you to step out and look beyond, at the bigger picture.
In the words of Ms. Megan Rapinoe, we have got to love more, hate less. We need to listen more and talk less. We all have a responsibility to make this world a better place. Let this be the first step you take towards that.
And with that, I take your leave. Good luck.
- Trishima Reddy
